Tokyo Belly

The first post of my blog is about food review, I've always wanted to try reviewing a restaurant's food since I like to try many kinds of foods in every different kind of restaurant. This one will be Tokyo Belly which located in Grand Indonesia, replacing Mr. Curry outlet.

Tokyo Belly is a modern Japanese bistro which served a lot of fusion Japanese foods. In addition, it is under Ismaya Group, hence it is a-must-restaurant to try out. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to take pictures of the interior design. The picture below is the one I take it from their web, and you can see that the interior really gives us Japan's vibe.

My friends and I visited Tokyo Belly last Saturday, we had late lunch that day. We were super hungry so we were expecting really great food, and turned out the food was amazing!

We ordered Kinky Kelly Sushi (IDR 55,000) as our appetizer. It was tempura tiger prawns wrapped in nori & topped with grilled salmon and tobiko mayo sauce. The sushi was super delicious! It was crispy inside and really moist outside because of the well-cooked salmon. The sauce also complemented the sushi really well.

For the main course, I ordered myself a Hiro (IDR 68,000), baked scallops and wild mushrooms topped with fresh seared salmon along with mashed potato and mashed sweet potato. For additional, I also ordered Rice + Miso Soup + Japanese Pickles (IDR 15,000). This menu is really recommended! The Salmon was perfectly cooked and the scallop & mushrooms taste great too. I really liked the sauce, too bad it's too little. The mashed potato had a good taste, but had no significant flavor compared to others. For the miso soup, it had a bold flavor and taste well. Every element on this menu complement each others really well, to be honest; I couldn't stop eating it.

Our lunch would not be completed without a dessert! We always have a room for dessert ;) We ordered Mango & Strawberry Parfait (IDR 35,000), but since the mango is ran out, they were willing to give us peach for the replacement. We can say it was a modest parfait, as usually parfait have a lot toppings. Nonetheless, it was a great dessert! The fruits were fresh, and the ice cream went well together with the cornflakes.

Overall, we had a pretty amazing lunch, I did not take pictures of my friends' food since they were eating it so fast hahaha. They ordered Sesame Chicken Steak (IDR 58,000), Grilled Carbonara Pasta (IDR 62,000) and Sukiyaki Beef Bi-Bim-Bap (IDR 68,000). All the foods had great taste and really satisfied our appetite.
